Dr. Chandrakant Mehta
Dr. Chandrakant Mehta was the first Rheumatologist to practice in the cities of Hemet and Menifee and has been providing medical care in Southern California since 1983. Dr. Mehta and his wife, Deni Mehta, established Southland Arthritis & Osteoporosis Medical Center and have been blessed with a very loyal and hardworking staff! Dr. Mehta completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania and completed his fellowship at Loma Linda University. Dr. Mehta is dual Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Mehta enjoys walking, traveling and playing with his grandchildren!
Dr. Keith Colburn
Dr.Keith Colburn is a distinguished Professor of Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine where he served as the Chief of Rheumatology until 2014 and was the Chief of Rheumatology at the Loma Linda VA Hospital until 2016. Dr.Colburn has published over 50 articles in medical journals and was the associate editor for the Journal of Investigative Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Rheumatology and is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr.Colburn has trained many of the practicing Rheumatologists in Southern California and he enjoys traveling and birdwatching.
Dr. Amal Mehta
Dr. Amal Mehta grew up in Hemet and was heavily influenced by his father and his dedication to his community. Dr.Mehta earned a B.A. in Economics from UCLA and his medical degree from Ross University School of Medical. While in medical school, Dr.Mehta earned a Healthcare MBA from George Washington University and has a special interest in implementing technology to improve patient care. Dr.Mehta completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix and completed his Rheumatology fellowship at Loma Linda Medical Center. Dr.Mehta is dual Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and has been appointed as a Qualified Medical Evaluator by the Division of Workers’ Compensation. Dr.Mehta enjoys playing tennis, traveling and spending time with his family and looks forward to making a postive impact in the lives of his patients.
Dr. Dharmarajan Ramaswamy
Dr.Ramaswamy completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Lincoln Medical Center in New York. Dr.Ramaswamy completed his Rheumatology fellowship at the University of Southern California and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr.Ramaswamy is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with his family.
Dr. Janki Trivedi
Dr. Trivedi completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor MI which was followed by medical school at the University of the Caribbean. After medical school she completed her residency in Internal Medicine with Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, WI. This was followed by a rheumatology fellowship at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington D.C. Dr. Trivedi enjoys spending her free time cooking, reading, exercising and spending time with her family.
Dr. Natalia Chavez-Chiang
Dr. Chavez-Chiang received her medical degree from the Universidad San Martin De Porres in Lima, Peru. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of New Mexico. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Chavez-Chiang is passionate about healthy living and its positive impact on physical and mental health, motivating a healthy lifestyle on her patients when treating rheumatic diseases. The addition of Dr. Chavez-Chiang expands Southland Arthritis Rheumatology capacity and responsiveness to patients and their families. Dr. Chavez-Chiang enjoys spending time with her family, paddle boarding, hiking, swimming, dancing and she is fluent in Spanish. She loves California and is pleased to be part of the excellent team of Rheumatologists at Southland Arthritis.
Dr. Marc Phillpotts
Dr. Marc Phillpotts is a board certified physician in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Phillpotts earned his medical degree at The University of the West Indies in Jamaica. He moved to Washington, DC where he completed Residency training in Internal Medicine at Howard University Hospital, then Fellowship training at the George Washington University. He has held an academic position as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the GW SMHS. He is a member of several professional societies including the American Medical Association, International Society of Clinical Densitometry and American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Phillpotts has expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound and bone densitometry. In his spare time, Dr. Phillpotts enjoys running, swimming and tennis.
Dr. Arlene Bravo
Dr. Arlene Bravo is a Board Certified Physician in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She has a clinical interest in treating a wide variety of rheumatic diseases, while working collaboratively with her patients to achieve an ultimate goal of improving their quality of life.
Dr. Bravo earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biochemistry and Neuroscience from UCLA, and then earned an M.D. and Ph.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Following completion of her internship and Internal Medicine Residency at Loma Linda University (LLU), she was an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at LLU prior to completing her Rheumatology Fellowship at UCSD. She is also a member of the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Bravo is a proud military wife, dedicates her free time to her two children, and enjoys traveling.
Dr. Deepa Panikkath
Dr. Panikkath is a Board Certified Physician in Internal Medicine with subspecialty expertise in Rheumatology. She was trained as a Dermatologist In India and worked as a Dermatology consultant before moving to the United States. She completed her Internship and Internal Medicine Residency at Texas Tech University and Rheumatology training at Loma Linda University Medical Center. She has presented at National Rheumatology Conferences, has multiple peer-reviewed publications, and is a member of the American College of Physicians and American College of Rheumatology. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends.
Angel Bustamante, PA-C.
Angel Bustamante PA-C completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at California State University Fullerton. He then earned his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Western University of Health Sciences in the city of Pomona. He is nationally certified as a Physician Assistant. He grew up in Orange County prior to settling in the Inland Empire and has been treating Rheumatic diseases and performing joint injections since 2003. He enjoys snowboarding, jet skiing, traveling, exercising and spending time with his family and friends. He aspires to make a difference in his community by providing compassionate care and improving the quality of life of his patients.
Lisa Asfahani, PA-C
Lisa Asfahani PA-C is a California native originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a nationally certified and state licensed PA-C (physician assistant). She graduated from California State Polytechnic University with her degree in Biology, continued on to complete her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Sciences from Loma Linda University’s Physician Assistant Graduate program in 2011 and is currently completing her Doctorate degree in Health Sciences at AT Still University. She is experienced in both Rheumatology as well as in General Medicine with involvement in numerous clinical studies in the field of Rheumatology. Lisa’s philosophy of care is to offer the highest quality of care to each individual patient while seeing each patient/provider interaction as an opportunity serve, to teach, and to heal. While medicine is Lisa’s passion she also enjoys travel, the outdoors, and spending time with family whenever she can. She believes in building a strong rapport with her patients which allows her to work closely with them to better manage their disease, both physically and emotionally. Simply put, her goal is to help each patient to achieve a better quality of life.
Megan Miramontes, DACM, Dipl. O.M.(NCCAOM)®, L.Ac.
Dr. Megan L. Miramontes was born and raised in Southern California. In 2016, she graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Southern California University of Health Sciences in Whittier, California. Passionate to further her education, she then elected to pursue her Doctoral degree. In 2018, she earned her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science. Dr. Miramontes licensed in the state of California as well as nationally credentialed as a Diplomate of Oriential Medicine. She currently serves as faculty for her alma mater SCU. She also specializes as a tactical sports clinician, where she treats first responders, military and veterans. Dr. Miramontes is not strictly business though! She spends much of her free time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include traveling, attending concerts, and cooking.
Deni Mehta – co-founded the medical practice with her husband on June 14th, 1983 in the city of Hemet, California. Deni has a Bachelors degree in Chemistry and a Bachelors degree in Education. Deni is the Practice Administrator for Southland Arthritis and is also a certified DEXA technician. Deni has been instrumental to the growth of Southland Arthritis and has established strong business relationships with other providers and administrators. Deni enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.
